Something to remember : ADO DAO RDO RDS

This is a discussion on Something to remember within the ADO DAO RDO RDS forums in Framework and Interface Programming category; Its strange how we quite often find a bug with our app, and end up totally baffled as to what it can be, only to find the solution is far more simple than we think about. For instance, I was trying to do an ADOQuery Append, which I have done plenty of times, and got the message the the query was badly formed. So, having looked at the query, and successfully executed it through database explorer, I was stumped. I have spent a day trying to get my head round it - even googled it. Its strange how we quite often find a bug with our app, and end up totally
baffled as to what it can be, only to find the solution is far more simple
than we think about.

For instance, I was trying to do an ADOQuery Append, which I have done
plenty of times, and got the message the the query was badly formed. So,
having looked at the query, and successfully executed it through database
explorer, I was stumped. I have spent a day trying to get my head round it
- even googled it.

And just now I realised I had forgot to clear the SQL strings property.
Normality restored once again.

The moral here of course is look before you leap. In this game, dont take
anything for granted!
