  1. Default Typing in Acrobat Professional v 7?

Everything I'm finding online leads me to believe this is possible, but having major problems. I've searched past forums and found related topics, but the suggestions didn't seem to help. Can anyone give me step by step instructions? I'm totally and completely frustrated and would greatly appreciated some input.

There's a couple of ways to do it.

    The typerwriter tool

You can create a text field with the text field tool and type in that.

Or if you're looking to change existing text, you can try the touchup text tool.

Step by step instructions would be a little hard unless you can give us a little more detailed info on exactly what you are trying to do.

I have a scanned pdf of an application and I am attempting to enter type into the required fields. The typewriter tool is really weird in that when I click on the area that I want to enter type, the cursor appears slightly above or below where I click. Further, the typewriter tool doesn't permit me to select a specific font.

I don't know how to usse or simply cannot find the text field tool. That sounds like what I'm looking for. I do not wish to change existing text

The text field tool is in Tools>Advanced Editing>Text Field tool.

Thanks! Found it. This is why i always say I'm one of the dumbest people I've ever met. Happy New Year!

How does one move the tex box slightly as opposed to the assigned large movements that come when attempting to move the box with the mouse and/or keyboard arrows?

As you have found it's really not that easy, but you should be able to use the TouchUp Object tool located in the same area as the touch up text tool

Not easy would be an understatement! Thanks to Graffiti, I was able to find the text tool, but the text boxes cannot be moved in the increments desired. The program seems to have a mind of its own in that the text boxes move more than desired when trying to manipulate them. VERY FRUSTRATING! Even Microsoft Imaging is easier to work with!

Also try creating new text with the 'TouchUp Text' tool: keep Ctrl pressed and drag an area with the tool. Sometimes this is more versatile for a couple of words only. (As above, move the new text with the TouchUp Object tool and change font or colour etc via right-click Properties)
