With companies like Sony installing rootkit software on user computers, my trust is such that I keep a watchful eye on my system.

I noticed that there is a service that has appeared in my task manager called FNPLicensingService. This is apparently linked to a service called FLEXNet. This has been added by Acrobat version 8. According to the FLEXNet website (http://www.macrovision.com/products/...er/index.shtml) this is apparently a license tracking software.

My question is this: if the software is activated, why do I need to have this service running? Adobe already tracks licenses with AdobeLM, and I let that slide. So why have two tracking services now?
