Hi All,
I have been strugging with this for a few days now, and decided it was
time to post for help. I had Acrobat 7 Pro installed both under XP and
then under Vista without a problem. However, I got a new machine
(running Vista) and upgraded to Acrobat 8 (with CS3). After install, I
noticed that during many normal windows operations, a dialog box with
a progress meter would pop up. It says "Please wait while Windows
configures Adobe Acrobat 8.0". The only option is cancel.
This would happen when I did any number of things, from startup, to
simply right-clicking on virutally anything. The progress meter would
creep along and after about 5 minutes, it would complete and let me do
my right-click. Ugh ! Even clicking cancel would take a couple of
mintues. I tried restarting several times. Same thing. I tried
uninstalling and re-installing. Same thing.
Next, I tried uninstalling 8 and installing Acrobat 7 Pro from my CS2
disks. The same problem! THis one is a little different, though, in
that the progress meter is quicker and different actions cause it to
open up. Now it is opening when I go into 'My Computer', when I open
up Internet Explorer, etc. I am able to rick-click without getting it.
ALso, it only lasts about 5-25 seconds instead of the 5 minutes from
before. Better but still unacceptable!
What can I do here? I know it used to work fine and I am having a very
hard time finding any other people with the problem online. Is there a
way to do a FULL uninstallation that will get rid of whatever garbage
data is causing this bug?
Thanks so much,
Jake
