Another one of those things that was much easier in Acrobat 7. Fudge!!!
Once you have typed something you have to click outside this area to
unselect it. Then click it again to select (have the typewriter toolbar
visible). Now you should be able to up and down the font size. I was <sad
grin>

Well, actually, I found that you can size the text while typing it;
i.e. no need to click outside and then inside again. However, this in
itself is ridiculous. In fact, the whole thing is ridiculous and
pathetic. Here is a list of user stories for behavior that needs to
be modified regarding the Typewriter Tool:
-When clicking on the typewriter tool, typing text, and clicking
outside the text box the tool is still active.
-Default font properties for the typewriter tool can be set in
preferences: font size, color, type, underline, italics, etc.
-All text (boxes) typed with the typewriter tool can be selected.
-Text boxes can be selected with the arrow pointer.
-Multiple text boxes can be selected using Ctrl-click with the arrow
pointer.
-All text (boxes) typed with the typewriter tool can be deleted.
-When selected, all font properties for all text (boxes) can be
changed.
Ok now, Adobe, snap to it.
