Hi all,
I am using a PC with CS3 installed and was having trouble with my InDesign not updating. So I uninstalled CS3 and reinstalled everything. Now my Acrobat won't update to the newest patch (8.1.2?). I open Acrobat and click on the 'updates'. They get downloaded but when it tries to install, I get a box popping up that says:
"Adobe BootStrapper for chaining multiple patches has encountered a problem and needs to close."
So, because of this, my PDF maker in Lotus Notes won't work either. Arrggh. I can't find any solution for this.
Any help would be hugely appreciated!!
Thanks,
Kess

Yeah, I had tried that yesterday and was able to download the update there but couldn't install it either.
Have you clicked Help--About to verify your current version?
Other than that, I've not had your problem, so have no other suggestions... maybe someone else will come along with a solution
You don't mention your OS, but I do know that I have seen a LOT of problem reports about the new security features in Vista getting in the way of user's work
Thanks, yes I have checked the version and it still comes up as version 8.
Sorry, should've mentioned it was XP that we use. So frustrating as I've spent the past two days uninstalling / reinstalling / repairing this crazy software so many times. That's what I get for trying to fix InDesign, should've left it alone! :-))
Hopefully someone else has had this problem.........
Version 8.0.0 or what? If only 8.0.0, then follow the suggestion and upgrade to 8.1.1 and then 8.1.2. As was mentioned, the updates are not cumulative. You may even have to do the 8.1 update first. If not sure, then do all of the updates in order.
It is often best to do the updates manually for Adobe products. However, you may have had the same problem with InDesign. You may have been trying to apply the latest updates without doing the ones before that. In such a case, you will get an error. As I recall the one time I had used the built in update with Acrobat, it offers all of the updates that are available and you need to chose them in order. I assume InDesign is the same.
