Acrobat 5

This is a discussion on Acrobat 5 within the Adobe Acrobat forums in Adobe Tools category; Good Day, I am still using the ACROBAT 5, actually sufficient for my jobs. Since 2 weeks or so I cannot download all internet information - on those sites I am asked to upgrade to ACROBAT 8 or 9. Efforts to ask the website owners to down-grade their pdf-files failed. Anybody who has clous for me (except buying the 9 version) ? THANK YOU, have a great day!...

You could add AR9 to your system, but be aware it may cause problems with Acrobat 5. Most newer PDFs will open in AA5, but give a warning about some features missing. If you can post a URL, some of us might look at the site to see what is going on.

Good A.M. Bill,

THANK YOU for your fast answer. - You are right, the AA5 overrules the AR9 which I installed before in order to close that gap. So, I could uninstall it again.

Now the URL - I give you one from the US (presuming that you are from that end); i.e.

<http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/official_info/baseball_basics/lingo.jsp>

pls click
1.0 - Objectives of the Game

there I rcv the following warning:
The Adobe Acrobat / Reader that is running can not be used to vier PDF files in a Web Browser. Adobe Acrobat / Reader 8 or 9 is required. Please exit and try again.

...... and there is my infinite loop.

Have a Great Day!

Jock

Good A.M. Bernd,

Please open URL
<http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/official_info/official_rules/foreword.jsp>

then click "Introduction"
1.0 – Objectives of the Game

The said window (my problem-window) opens and warns

+++
The Adobe Acrobat/Reader that is running cannot be used to view PDF files in a Web Browser. Adobe Acrobat/Reader version 8 or 9 is required. Please exit and try again
+++

I tried to by-pass that ERROR by installing the AR9. However, the AA5 overrules the AR9. So, I uninstalled the AR9.

Any chance to avoid such ERRORS without buying the AA9 ?

Kindly check and advise.

THANKS + have a great day!

Jock

Just a follow up. I opened the link in my browser with AA5 on the machine. I have no AR on this machine. The file opened up fine in AA5 (in the browser) and there was no message about newer versions given. In fact, the PDF indicated it was in AA5 format. That may not help, but it is possibly a useful bit of info.
