  1. Default Acrobat 8.0 update (Windows XP and Vista)

I'm using Acrobat 8.0 (Windows XP Pro) + Acrobat Reader 9.0
I'm anymore able to update Acrobat 8.0, the following message appear:
For Adobe updater and Adobe Install Manager Update:
You restart the download process, but the files as change on the server
    For Adobe Updater plug-in:
    Unable to verifing file

The exacte same message with Vista environment.

I have try to uninstall the Adobe Reader 9.0, restart the computer, without any change.

The exact same thing is happening to all our XP and Vista systems running either Acrobat 8 or Acrobat Reader 8. Everything was working fine until the past week/couple days.

Once your version has passed in to the past for support, it is best to simply turn off the auto-update (only critical updates will be done in the future, if ever) and periodically check the adobe.com>downloads>updates site to update the system.

Whe 98% installed I get this message

The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable

The file that I am trying to install is

    AcroRead.msi

    But it wont work! Help!

I have Acrobat 8.1.2 and Reader 9 installed in the same machine and was getting these problems. I uninstalled Reader 9 and this appears to have solved my problem. Acrobat 8.1.3 is running well.

I don't know what's going to happen if I try installing Reader 9 again.

For most things you should be just find with AR9. I have different versions on every machine I have. On this one I have AA5 and it works fine for almost all PDFs I need. You really need to consider what advantage AR9 would give you. If none, then why is it an issue? Adobe does not recommend the installation of both Acrobat and Reader for many of the compatibility reasons, but this is the first time I have heard about the issue being related to updates. I am not surprised.

We are also having the "The file could not be verified" and "You're resuming a download, but the file on the server has changed." errors when attempting updates recently.

Adobe will not help us unless we pay for a support plan. They caused the problem and want us to pay them to fix it. What a scam.

Download the update from Adobe.com>Downloads>updates rather than using the update in Acrobat.

Hi everybody who helped. I managed to uninstall the old adobe readers by using a free microsoft download uninstaller - then downloaded and installed version 8. It works fine now but all my pdf files turned to dos files and couldnt find the file to execute. What a lot of trouble following a download update prompt!

All of your PDF files should be intact as PDF files. I don't understand what you mean by they all became DOS files. Do you mean ASCII Txt or what? Basically all files are DOS files in a sense and thus I have no clue what you mean.
