After Effects can't continue: sorry. : Adobe After Effects

This is a discussion on After Effects can't continue: sorry. within the Adobe After Effects forums in Adobe Tools category; Hi I find I get this problem alot more during rendering. Although I have had it come up on startup and during scrubbing of video. I discovered it came down to the type of video files I was using. We export video from our Avid Chrome system, which creates .2YUV files. After Effects dont like these at all, so I export them as uncompressed Quicktime files and the crashing stops, completely. Please let me know if this helps at all. Cheers....

Has anyone got close to a solution on this yet? My AE 6.5 now crashes immediately. I can't get in at all. Tried re-installing, but it makes no difference.

Ahhhh!!

Hi Julian,
Did you try to look at the detailed error report when it crashes?
I had exactly the same problem as you, and it was a codec pack (ffdshow) wich caused the problem.
Good luck!

Magicword,

You will need QuickTime in order to run After Effects.

If a reinstall of QuickTime doesn't help, you may have to delete your AE preferences. Hold down Ctrl-Alt-Shift / Cmd-Opt-Shift directly after clicking the AE icon.
