Is there a way to separate the points of a mask circle? : Adobe After Effects
This is a discussion on Is there a way to separate the points of a mask circle? within the Adobe After Effects forums in Adobe Tools category; Hi! I need a shape that is derived from a perfect circle. To accomplish that I need to separate the two vertex points of a bezier curve that make up the circle. In case I didn't make sense I'll remodel my question this way: Once you close a path, can you re-open it? Ps. Is there a AE irc channel to be found anywhere?...

| Re: Is there a way to separate the points of a mask circle? Duplicate the mask, delete the points you don't need. AE is simply not cut out to do more creative work on vector paths. Mylenium |

| Re: Is there a way to separate the points of a mask circle? Sure would be nice if Illustrator CS4 / AE CS4 has a nice round trip feature for editing masks and vector shapes. This cut and paste business is pretty clunky. Of course, it'd be great if AE just had more Illustrator tools (like scissors) |

| Re: Is there a way to separate the points of a mask circle? Thanks for trying to help guys! I tried duplicating the circle, then selecting a point and pressing delete, but the shape remains closed. Did I understand you wrongly Mylenium? |

| Re: Is there a way to separate the points of a mask circle? You need to select the two points or side that create the edge you want "opened". Then, from the LAYER pulldown, MASK&SHAPE PATH->OPEN AE needs to know where you want to put the hole. |
