Installing CS4 Production Suite --> CS3 Remains in Tact? : Adobe After Effects
This is a discussion on Installing CS4 Production Suite --> CS3 Remains in Tact? within the Adobe After Effects forums in Adobe Tools category; Probably a dumb question, but when I purchase my CS4 Production Suite upgrade, it's a completely new install, yes? CS3 applications are unaffected across the board I assume. I'm excited to get CS4 on board, but I have a lot invested in AE CS3 as far as plug-ins go and am watching/waiting to see when my plugs will be CS4 compatible. Thanks for the thoughts. | It is a completely new install. Your CS3 apps will remain in place. You can create an Alias or shortcut to your 3rd party plug-ins and place it in the CS4 Plug-ins folder and you won't have to re-install any of them. I don't know of any new compatibility issues. |

| One point of caution. There's a known issue where uninstalling CS3 after having both CS3 and CS4 co-installed will cause a problem with Adobe Media Encoder. It will crash with an error about source file not found. So if you must have both versions installed for a while, please remember to uninstall CS4 and reinstall it AFTER you remove CS3. |
