Anyone else have these CS4 bugs? : Adobe After Effects
This is a discussion on Anyone else have these CS4 bugs? within the Adobe After Effects forums in Adobe Tools category; Much respect to Mylenium! Your excellent posts are kind and respectful. I wish I could always be so even handed and just nice. Thanks for everything you do here. Let me explain why the SAVE bug is one of the worst I have ever seen in any Mac product. Here is how I found out about it. 1. I opened up a project (a spot for the Dayton Philharmonic) that needed some revision. 2, I did my revisions. 3. I quit AE (AE did not even ask me to save!!!). 4. 4. I opened the project for more revisions without realizing that my earlier revisions were not there. 5. Much confusion. All the above is completely reproducible. An app that doesn't protect the current state of the document is UNPRECEDENTED in my experience. To be clear--you can work on an existing document and then quit the APP without getting the CORNERSTONE "Do you want to Save" dialog. I don't consider that minor. Thanks, Lance |

| I must say, I got caught out today by the same issue. I'm so used to hitting Cmd-S and closing the app that I didn't even look to see if it actually saved. It didn't! Happily, the previous auto-save was good to go. |

| To further refine my description of this bug: This bug will apparently only manifest itself if you have AUTOSAVE ON and an AUTOSAVE has occurred. It also does not occur if you make additional changes to the project AFTER the autosave--you have a window of opportunity to get proper behavior but you do stand a great chance of losing work. 1. I opened up a project that needed some revision. 2, I did my revisions. 3. I quit AE (AE did not even ask me to save!!!). Alternatelyy hitting CMD-S to save will have no effect--your document WILL NOT SAVE. |
