Which operating system? Vista perhaps? Did you install with correct administrative privileges? Does the error affect all other user accounts? Did you run the CS3 clean scripts after uninstalling CS3 just to be on the safe side? Mylenium

Hi, I have a Dell Precision laptop with Intel core2 Duo 4 GB RAM and an Nvidia Quadro m1600 graphics card. I start to think that this is caused by the fact that quicktime was not present at the time of first installation. Than I installed quicktime and only than the updates. I will now try to install the updates and only afterwards quicktime to see if it does the trick. Will be happy to hear more ideas. Ariel

OK so this is how I solved the problem if anyone encounter it ever again... Uninstalling and reinstalling the CS3 won't help. The problem happens probably because of quicktime installed prior to the CS3 updates. I didnt try to remove quicktime. I formatted my PC and luckly I had an image of my c: drive from the time I installed the cs3 and prior to the time I installed Quicktime. So I made all Adobe Cs3 updates first and only than installed Quicktime. Now After Effects works. If anyone finds a way to solve this without formatting c: drive, let me know. Ariel E.

Quicktime 7.5.5 indeed. There are some updates which still fail to install on my laptop like Adobe Illustrator 13.0.2 but I guess thats a questions to be posted in another forum. Mylenium. Thanks for your efforts to help. Ariel E.

It is January 25th, 2010 and I have the same issue. After Effects CS3 - cannot load AERes1.dll I uninstalled Quicktime and tried to open with no success. Then I proceed to update QT with 7.6.5 version and still nothing. What gives? Is there a way to fix this without having to reformat hard drives and such? I am on a company workstation and frankly it is hard to believe that in order to fix this issue you have to go to such lenghts. that is not my option. I appreciate any suggestion to solve this issue since it doesn't seem to be a common error out there in Adobe world. Thanks.
