I'm using FrameMaker 7.2 on Windows XP Professional. Can anyone shed some light on a simple way to obtain "total book" word count, page count, figure/graphic count. Yes, of course I've read the FrameMaker Knowledge Base -- but the info. is pretty terse. (... Not to mention waaaaay to complicated for a simple task IMHO. Check out the answer they give for how to obtain total book page count, sheeeesh!) I'm a technical writer and I am required to give "Readiness Review" presentations of the status of docs. per project. Total book word count, page count, figure/graphic count are needed for statistical analysis. If I am not in error and Adobe has left out these features, can we get them to add them in?

Hi Robert... It looks like there are three plugins that provide various "object counts" .. however, it sounds like your requirements may not be solved by any of them, but you should take a look .. <http://www.leximation.com/toolsearch/?type=P&baseapp=FM&kwds=count> The object counting features provided with Frame are fairly limited, although with a little work (as you've found out), you can get most of it. If you have specific needs that aren't provided, you can have an FDK plugin or FrameScript built that will do exactly what you need. Contact us at Leximation for more information on plugin development. Good luck! Scott Prentice Leximation, Inc. www.leximation.com

Bruce Foster, who publishes a number of plug-ins, and is one of the solutions mentioned in Scott's message, is probably the closest plug-in to what you want. For graphics... you may want to generate a list of graphics if you don't include that as a book component and grab a simple count from that. Art
