I have both Frame Maker & Mathtype installed on my PC. How do I get the Mathtype icons to appear on the Framemaker toolbar so that I only have to click within framemaker to activate it? When I installed the Mathtype, the icons appeared on the Microsoft toolbar automatically. e.c.

Mathtype is not integrated with FrameMaker. Mathtype uses special plug-ins to do what you see in Word. For what it is worth, I recommend that you do not paste as an object from Mathtype to Frame. Frame does not handle OLE objects gracefully. Either import an eps or wmf OR paste special to avoid using objects. Mike

Thanks Mike, Its a pity it cant be done. I know that if I select and copy an equation in math type and paste it in Frame, double click the equation in frame and you are back to math type, edit it and save it, you go back to frame. So Frame recognises Mathtype! but ont plug in. ed

Ed, I've embedded MathType equations as OLE objects with reasonable success like you are doing, but I'll add to Mike's cautionary note. On occasion, it crapped out and made the file unsavable. If you do it, make sure you save your file frequently and keep backups. Russ

Ed, I've been using Mathtype with Frame since Frame 3.2 on a Mac and version 4.0 on a PC. You can use it, but you can have all sorts of problems. I've seen them over the years. I haven't extensively checked this with MT 6 and Frame 8, but if you search this forum for OLE objects you will see cautions about OLE from any application. It can be easy or it can be nearly error-proof. The choice is yours. I've put in a request here: <http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform> for better integration of Mathtype into FrameMaker. If you use MT frequently, perhaps you can add your voice to mine. Mike
