| We sometimes have incremental manual updates that are released chapter by chapter as PDFs. The problem is that the cross reference links are broken if the chapter contains a cross reference to another file. Is there a way to disable the linking function for the PDFs? That is, keep the cross reference formatting, just not have the link to other files when converted to PDF. I've looked through the PDF Setup and Distiller options, but didn't see any type of setting for enabling or disabling hyperlinks for standard cross references. (There is a checkbox to create hyperlink entries for generated TOCs and indexes, but that's not what I need.) Any help is appreciated. | When Saving as PDF (or when printing to a .ps file with "Generate Acrobat Data" turned on), hypertext links and cross-references are converted to PDF links (with the exception of cross-references in text insets). There is no built-in way to suppress some cross-references while maintaining other interactive features such as bookmarks. With my FrameMaker-to-Acrobat TimeSavers add-on, it is possible to "disable" external cross-references pointing to a specific file/path (link is removed but text/formatting remains intact) -- see <http://www.microtype.com/TimeSavers.html> (Links/General screen; "Suppress x-refs when path or file name includes: ....."). | Ann, If you create the PDF for the single document WITHOUT having the other documents open, there will be no link in the PDF; however, interdocument links will remain. Van |
