GIS to Illustrator - How do I keep the paths connected?
I have been working on several maps that were created in GIS that were then converted to Illustrator. These are large, detailed maps that have several layers. When I open the file in Illustrator, it turns everything into tiny individual pieces instead of keeping the paths intact.
Is there a way to lines as lines and not have them turn into tiny pieces? Because of the amount of reconnecting paths, it has always been faster just to redraw the lines using the GIS info as a template.
How can I work these 2 programs to be more efficient? How can I keep shapes and lines without having to reconnect everything?

Which GIS-program do you use?
Is it able to save or export documents to .dxf or .dwg? Illustrator can open one of those, remaining the lines and layers as they are.
(Don't forget to save in the right version. For example CS1 does not open newer dwg's and dxf's than the 2000-version)
