Direction Keys : Adobe illustrator
This is a discussion on Direction Keys within the Adobe illustrator forums in Adobe Tools category; My direction keys next to the number keys are locked in Illustrator which prevents me from moving my images up, down, left or right, please help, thanks...

| Art: If this happens when the object is selected with the Selection (black arrow) tool, and your keyboard Increment (in Edit> Preferences> General, Ctrl + k) is set large enough so you could see a movement, and it still doesn't work, try resetting your AIPrefs file. For resetting see FAQ#2 in Illustrator FAQ at the top of the forum list. steve |

| Note that merely switching to the black pointer is not enough. Switch to the black pointer and re-make the selection. This is because if you have individual points or segments of a path selected, and then switch to the black pointer, you still have only the points and/or segments selected. The nudge keys will not work. After switching to the black pointer the bounding box displays around the whole path, even though only parts of it are selected, and even though the black pointer is not able to make that kind of selection.
