I have been using illustrator (CS3) with envelope distortion applied to a horizontal ellipse shape filled with a pattern of vertical lines. When applying an envelope distort using the arc option the fill lines fan nicely (the effect I want). However, this same fanning affect does not work in other envelopes (eg flag and my own designs) - the lines remain strictly vertical. In all cases the distort fill option has been checked.
Any suggestions on how fanning might be implemented or is this a bug?
