a NON designer needs help!
I am an amateur, I'm sorry. I need help creating a orbit going around a logo. I can do an outlined circle and then shear it but I am wanting almost the look of rings around saturn. Then I need it to go behind the logo and then come back around in front of the logo.
This is probably too hard to explain, but I thought I would try.
thanks!

Re: a NON designer needs help!
1. Ellipse Tool: ShiftDrag to draw several concentric circles. No fill, solid stroke. Adjust the stroke weight for each circle to give each “ring” the desired width.
2. Select all the rings.
3. KnifeTool: Press and hold Alt. Drag the knife all the way across the middle of the rings to cut the rings in half horizontally.
Leave everything selected.
4. Ungroup. Leave everything selected.
5. Black Pointer: drag the bottom middle handle of the bounding box upward to turn the circular rings into elliptical rings.
6. Move the whole kaboodle into position on top of the logo.
7. Select what should be the back halves of the rings and Object>Arrange>SendToBack.

Re: a NON designer needs help!
cksail,
To create a Fill/No Stroke ring disappearing behind the main logo part, you may (at the same time learn about a few basic tools/ways):
1. Create a Stroke/No Fill circle and cut it at the anchor point in each side (with the Scissors Tool),
2. Select both halves and create a copy on top (Ctrl+C and Ctrl+F) and reduce the size without moving it (you can reduce the W and H values in the Transform Palette),
3. Hide the bottom halves, and click the lower left end points of the top halves with the Pen Tool to join them,
4. Repeat 3 for the right end points,
5. Do as in 3 and 4 joining the bottom halves,
6. Select both half rings and change to Fill/No Stroke,
7. Change the width/height of the rings to fit,
7. In the Layers Palette move the appropriate half below the main logo part, or Ctrl+X and Ctrl+B.
Edit: Hi James.
