Hi All-
I'm using Illy CS3 on Windows Vista. Everything was working fine, for 4 months, 'til Monday morning, when Illy stopped saving my files (not responding). At first I thought it was a corrupt file. After much time and effort I discovered it was all files. Then I found these forums and after 2 days of trouble shooting, I at least know my way around a PC better! On one of the forums someone suggested trying a different user name, Illy will work when I do this, but not under my user name.
Does anyone know how to fix this?
So far I have:
trashed my pref. folder (more than a few times)
uninstalled/reinstalled Adobe creative Suite 3 (one time)
Checked/started/restarted the print spool (a couple of times)
and have renamed Version Cue to Old Version Cue (twice-before and after installation)
Please help if you can.
Thanks,
Lisa

Jacob, Thanks for your comment.
Is it important to put the folder on the desktop? I've been throwing the folder directly in the trash (with Illy closed) then restarting the computer and opening up Illustrator. This doesn't help.
I'm wondering if there is a preference folder for my "User" name space on the computer that needs to be dumped. Because Illy seems fine under "Guest".
I am way more familiar with a Mac so???.
Thanks,
Lisa
Lisa,
Moving to the Desktop has been the advice since someone reported that deleting/binning the folder did not work.
There will be a folder for each version and each user.
A search including hidden files and folders for the Adobe Illustrator CS3 Settings folder should reveal whichever CS3s there are.
Thanks, I'll try that.
For now, I just created a whole new user and moved my stuff over so I could get some work done!
I appreciate your help,
Lisa
You are welcome, Lisa. Please report back: we are gathering all the knowledge and experience that we can.
Hi Jacob-
switching users seemed to work, but I'm changing that to "helped a little". When I save, it takes a while. First Illustrator says not responding, but it I leave it be, eventually it will save. Same story when saving it as a PDF.
Also, just used photoshop since this problem has arrived and that says "not responding" when trying to open files. But just like Illustrator, it will open files if I wait, and wait, and wait!
Haven't tried saving in PS yet.
Thanks,
Lisa
Lisa,
Have you installed new software or made (other) significant changes?
This may be one for Len.
Hi Jacob-
Just the normal prompted software updates. Also, I installed an Adobe font "Hypatia Sans" on this computer from another computer in my office. But I had that on the system for about 2-3 weeks before the problem. And our whole office is getting digital phones. Other than that, there have been no changes.
Thanks,
Lisa
Lisa,
It sounds like something outside Illy. I hope Len will look into this forum soon: he may have some suggestions.
