I've searched and searched and can't find anything one this. Is there a way to make the guides a place default to lock in place? I hate my guides moving when I select all and I hate having to go to "lock guides" each time I set them. I'd appreciate any direction on this topic. Thanks, Van

Usually, the behaviour is that guides are locked by default. Which version of Illustrator are you using?

Kurt, Conversely, is there any way to *not* make guides lock by default? Cheers, JJ

Never cared about it, Jay. So, I don't know. You could try and see if that locked state can be manipulated in the AIPrefs file, but I guess it's not possible.

I'm using CS3. Just installed it. There were always locked before. It really is driving me crazy.

My Guides are locked by default... sometimes I prefer to just hide them completely to avoid confusion... I'll check it out

Command>Alt>; to lock or unlock guides. In CS 3 the guides are unlocked by default. This a a change in behavior as Command>A is not often used as much in AI as you are working on a project as the project gets more complex it it is on used for things like copying to another document etc. and a quick keyboard short cut can lock them or unlock the m at anytime. I have o admit i am surprised that the two people with the problem did not look under the View menu and go to guides it is clearly listed there.
