CS2 was (is) able to open my prehistoric FH8 files directly. CS3 13.0.1 can't. "File X is an unknown format and cannot be opened." Anyone know what changed? Shouldn't CS3 be able to open the same alien files as CS2? PS. I know the 13.0.2 update is supposed to do something in relation to Freehand files but of course I haven't figured out how to update to 13.0.2 without flying to Madagascar and back. And not even sure that will result in a successful update install. And I'm not sure it would solve this problem either.

Uh... it may be FH7 (!) that CS2 can open and CS3 can't.

They must be even older. CS2 can open FH4 files, while CS3 can only open FH7.

Wow. Maybe 5.5? I think that's the first version I ever used. Thanks, Monika.

In CS3, while important enhancements were made to import of FH9, FH10 and FH11 (MX) files, support for importing FH file below FH7 were withdrawn.

Neeraj, do you know this from the literature/documentation on 13.0.2 specifically? Or AICS3 generically? Or have you successfully updated to 13.0.2? If the last, by what sleight of hand did you succeed at this?
