I've used the clipping mask several times successfully but for some reason now it won't work for me. I have a few layers and have tried several different things. Putting the objects on the same layer.. making sure the mask is on top.. making sure everything is grouped.. tried ungrouping.. tried different selecting.. saving.. closing.. reopening... Basically when I select my objects and try to clip them everything vanishes that's selected not just the objects underneath but everything. Any suggestions? Help? Thanks

Avyon: You may have an invisible (unstroked) object on top that is being used to clip. Make the clipping mask and then look in your Layers Palette to see what the top clipping object is, and select it in the palette to see it on the artboard. steve

I have a complex illustration that I enclosed in a clipping path. I saved the file but when I reopened it the next day for additional editing all my layers had disappeared and I can't release the clipping path. Is there a way to do this?? Help! I can't even direct-select anything. Lin

Wow Lin, all the layers are gone? There's at least one layer remaining, correct? Have you made sure that layer (or all layers, for that matter) is (are) visible and tried Outline view (CTRL-Y on PC)? That way at the very least least you could see if your Illustration was still there.. If you still see nothing will all layers set to visible and outline view mode on, that doesn't bode well. ![]()
