Hi As the title says i have just picked up illustrator and am trying to get into it. My first problem is to do with color im finding that when i have a shape selected and go into the color picker menu like in photoshop, select a color and then ok it the color on my document is not what i picked. Its a very muted version of the color i picked. I dont udnerstand why its doing this and was hoping someone could shed some light on it for me. <http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a282/danfitchie/Untitled-1-1.jpg> Last thing is how do you stop the document being trimmed when you export to photoshop. it would be nice if it kept the original dimensions from illustrator in photoshop.

Two possibilities: Your document might be in CMYK mode (rather than RGB), or your object might have some sort of transparency effect applied to it... You might want to try duplicating the object and colouring it a series of colours to see if there are differences.

Also check if you're in Overprint Preview mode (under View). If you are, cancel it.

Greg, Last thing is how do you stop the document being trimmed when you export to photoshop. it would be nice if it kept the original dimensions from illustrator in photoshop. That depends on the version. What happens if you set Crop Area/Marks to define the boundaries of the artwork?
