Not getting 'Pressure' option for brushes in CS3.3

  1. Default Not getting 'Pressure' option for brushes in CS3.3

I just purchased CS3 for my new Mac Pro and got it all going. I have a Wacom Cintiq LCD pad and use to use the pressure sensitivity with CS2 on my old PC. I can open old documents in CS3 and use the default brushes, but when I try to change the brushes or when I open a new document I'm not even given 'Pressure' as an option for a new or existing brush.

Long story short, Illustrator does not recognize pressure sensitivity, even though all other programs (Photoshop, etc) do. I've reinstalled both Illy and the Wacom driver a couple times each and scoured the internet to find no answers. Does someone here know whats happening with this? Thank you!

How are you determining you can't get Pressure?

Are you double clicking the brush tool? Clicking the brush preferences?

Setting AI to see pressure is a bit more hidden than any other app.

I'm fairly fluent with Illustrator. Double Clicking the Brush tool gives you non-pressure related options like Fidelity, Smoothness, Keeping Strokes Selected or not. It's when you choose an actual Brush and it's setting where you are supposed to be able to adjust a brush's Diameter by it's Pressure, Tilt, etc. All of these tab;et specific options are grayed out. The only choosable options are 'Fixed' and 'Random'

Interestingly enough, if I open a file created on my PC in CS2, the brushes load and pressure sensitivity is available, but only in that specific file, and if I attempt to alter the settings, sure enough it grays out 'Pressure' even though it's selected!

I use the pressure sensitive Brush tool in Illustrator for work. I have for years. I don't know why Mac OS X + Wacom Cintiq 21UX + Illustrator CS3.3 = FAIL

    CAN ANYONE HELP? :/

I knew the brush options wouldn't help you but it was worth asking.

If pressure is not available first thing I'd try is repairing permissions and removing the AI preferences.

After that.. a new user account.

I fixed it, looks like all I needed was the most current driver from Wacom's website! :] Thanks!
