Illustrator CS4 and Bridge : Adobe illustrator

You can now launch bridge from within illustrator CS4, but how do you benefit from it? Unlike when using Photoshop, double-clicking a file opens that image in PS, what would be the workflow for using it with illustrator. I don't see a purpose.

You could launch Bridge from within CS3 as well.

I hear people use Bridge to sort and find files to open. How useful Bridge is to you is for you to determine. Double-clicking an ai or eps file in Bridge will open in it Illustrator.

I personally have yet to find any use for Bridge at all other than adding metadata to groups of files in one shot.

Well for illustrator since you can drag and drop from the finder you can also drag and drop from the Bridge so you can arrange bridge in such a way let me make a screenshot. BTW you can also preview Illustrator files in the bridge without a plug in.

The bridge is even more handy for other things,you can preview films and video without opening up an application create web galleries and it is integrated well with acrobat.

You can tell what fonts you have in a file if the file has spot colors and what they are as opposed to be a processed version of the file.

Basically - don't use Bridge and Drive until the patch is released. Best to use the mounted VC server directly in the OS and applications.

As we were preparing to ship Creative Suite 4, we discovered serious issues that need to be addressed so that customers will have an optimal experience using Version Cue CS4. Because of these issues, we temporarily disabled access to Version Cue from Adobe Bridge CS4. In mid-November, we plan to release a patch for Version Cue CS4 that will fix those issues and re-enable Version Cue CS4 in Bridge.

We recommend evaluating and implementing Version Cue in production workflows when the patch becomes available. However, you can set up a managed workflow today using the new Adobe Drive. If you will be using Adobe Drive with Version Cue in a production workflow, be aware of some issues you may encounter, which are detailed on our Version Cue Support Center at www.adobe.com/support/versioncue.
