ID2 Font outline file missing
Hi,
Using ID2.02 on Mac 10.4.8.
Just bought an OpenType font family. <http://www.fonts.com/findfonts/detail.htm?pid=242858&page_id=33101&query=shannon>
Three of the four fonts in the family report an error when using them in an InDesign document:
You might not be able to print with “ShannonStd-Bold” or stroke its characters because the font’s outline file is missing or ATM is turned off.
Tried removing every other non-System font in case it was a conflict, but no go.
Any thoughts?

Re: ID2 Font outline file missing
First of all, update to 10.4.11 and repair permissions.
2nd - where did you place the fonts?
3rd - which fontmanager do you use?
4th - did you clean font caches (can be done with FontFinagler, which is free and can be downloaded from versiontracker.com)?

Re: ID2 Font outline file missing
Thanks for these comments, Nini.
1. Is 10.4.11 necessary? I've read a number of comments about drastic results and gotchas.
2. Fonts were placed in HD/Library/Fonts.
3. Didn't use a font manager, just put the fonts in there. I don't need much in the way of font management, but these are new corporate fonts that I have to use. Have restarted any number of times since.
4. I've followed some Adobe instructions about deleting files with names like 'AdobeFnt06.lst'. Is that what you mean? I'll download and try FontFinagler anyway -- Thanks.

Re: ID2 Font outline file missing
Peter, your error message seems to be related more to postscript fonts than open type. And this particular fonts has downloads for both open type and postscript. Is it possible that you downloaded the ps fonts and there is an issue with the printer fonts?

Re: ID2 Font outline file missing
Used FontFinagler but that didn't fix this issue.
Font files certainly say they're OpenType, file names end in .otf.
When creating a PDF with InDesign, I get an alert:
Shannon Std Book: This font could not be embedded because its format is obsolete. The font must be installed to view or print this file properly with Adobe Acrobat.
Opening the PDF, I get an alert:
The encoding (CMap) specified by a font is missing.
In the PDF (in Acrobat Reader), none of the text written using the relevant fonts is present. A search for text reveals nothing.
I've prompted the font seller for support, but no response yet.

Re: ID2 Font outline file missing
At least update to 10.4.10 if you can find it. 10.4.11 is the altest one avaiulable through Software Update though.
Did you check and repair your permissions?
