CS3 - InDesign - Texture

  1. Default CS3 - InDesign - Texture

Hello - I am using the InDesign application from CS3. I haven't had the time yet to explore much of PS or Illustrator.

I am working on a project where I'd like to have blocks of color behind text or photographs. That's fine. I know how to do that. And I know how to make some changes to the block of color via Effects.

However, what I'd like to do is add texturized effects to the blocks of color - such as burlap, or cement or sand.....

Is that possible within InDesign? Do I need an add-in? Or do I need to create the block in Illustrator and then bring it into InDesign?

    Thank you
    Marion

PS - I just hopped into Illustrator, and it's superbly easy to create the textures there. But I don't know how to transfer the textured blocks from Illustrator to InDesign.... Copy and Paste? Drag? Other?

That will require Photoshop or Illustrator. Once the texture is created save the file as a PSD or AI file, then File > Place from InDesign.
