Can't move items on page

  1. Default Can't move items on page

I'm using InDesign CS3 (v. 5.0.3) for Windows. After I draw a text box, colour swatch, whatever, I can't click on it again with my mouse to move it. It's like it's locked in place -- whether I draw on the master page or on a regular page. However, if I click and drag the mouse (which creates the grey dotted box), it will highlight the box drawn on the page and the editing points show up again. The only way I can move it then is by using the arrow keys.

I don't have anything on the page locked, anchored, etc. I uninstalled and reinstalled InDesign, then updated it to 5.0.3 and nothing has changed. Everything stays locked in place on existing InDesign files, I can't edit or add anything to the existing files, and I can't draw anything on a new document.

What can I do to fix this??

This sounds really familiar. Try a forum search, and replace your prefs, then post back.

    Been there, done that.

If it's just that one file export to INX. If it's all of them trash your
    prefs.
