In IDCS2 I've allways scrolled to left/right with alt+mousewheel. Since I've updated to IDCS3 I noticed thad this function was alltered in a zoomfunction. I since than haven't been able to find where I cann change this back into a scrollfunction. Can anybody tell me if this is still possible?

On my Windows version it has been moved to Ctrl+Scroll, so presumably it's now the Command-key for you. The option to change it should logically be under Keyboard Shortcuts -- although... the mouse is not part of the keyboard, and checking the existing set doesn't list *anything* with either mouse movements, mouse buttons, or mouse wheel. It also doesn't list "Scroll left" or "Scroll right", so there seems to be no way to change it.

What the scrollwheel does or does not depends on which version of the OS you have, which mouse and scroll-wheel, your settings for mouse and scrolling in System preferences or a driver for the mouse all in combination with what InDesign supports. My Mighty Mouse in OS X 10.5.4 supports left and right scrolling in InDesign CS3 (5.0.3) just automatically. But that's the Might Mouse which can go in 4 directions with it's small scroll-ball. Yes cmd+scroll in InDesign CS3 goes left and right. ctrl+scroll on the Mac zooms in and out (if you have a fairly recent OS).
