Importing/Exporting Picture Palettes
My colleague worked a lot on PageMaker files and I would like to import her picture palette, since it is quite comprehensive.
Is it possible for me to import it since we share the same network, or does she have to export it first? How?
Or is the picture palette reference file saved somewhere on her computer (like in the C:\Program Files\Adobe\PageMaker 7.0 folder)?
We both use PM 7.0 on Windows XP.
Thanks.

Re: Importing/Exporting Picture Palettes
I think it can be done, but it's a bit messy.
The file(s) you are looking for are in the folder:
[pm7dir]\RSRC\[language]\Catalogs
and will be called myfilename.sac
Copy all the files to the correcponding folder on another PC, and then create new categories with EXACTLY the same name in Picture Palette on the other copy of PM.
The thumbnails will then appear if the link to the image file is correct.
Let me know if it works for you.

Re: Importing/Exporting Picture Palettes
It works! Thank you very much! It is quite messy, but still, I was able to import only the most crucial palettes I needed.
I wonder though if that could create glitches in my files if my colleague did not use the Place command in the first place but just dragged and dropped files from Illustrator, for example.
I know she experienced some difficulties with .wmf graphics that printed in PDF on the next page or not within the specified frame. She told me it prints fine in PDF since she replaced the guilty .wmf graphics with .ai files.
I'll keep the Community posted if I experience glitches.
Thanks a lot, John!

That's nothing to do with Picture Palette or Paste vs. Place really, but because *.WMF files and Postcript are not compatible. Yes, using *.AI files is far more preferable. More details in the FAQs:
