Color Theory and The Photoshop Color Picker
In color theory, complementary colors are two colors opposite each other on the color wheel. For example, the 180 degree opposite of red is green. When I pick the color red (hue is 0) in the Photoshop color picker and then pick enter a hue of 180 degrees to get red's complementary opposite color I end up with cyan rather than green. Anybody know why?
Thanks,

Re: Color Theory and The Photoshop Color Picker
The visible spectrum color wheel is different than the art school one. Cyan is on the opposite side. Here's a very clunky wheel:
R
M Y
B G
C
Click on the Color Wheel page of the ASCIIcat <http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/r_harvey/asciicat.htm> help file for an example.

Re: Color Theory and The Photoshop Color Picker
you might do better asking this question in the main forum eric, you've stumbled into an off topic chatter area. here's a link to the main win forum:

and the main mac forum:

depending on your system of choice...
not that r_harvey's advice isn't usually top notch, but you'll get more (serious) discussion there.

Hey, I was very serious! If he asks again, he'll get the same thing again (if he's lucky), but with lots more words.

Hey, I was very serious!
I know you were. I was just pointing out that he'd get more discussion in the main forums.

Re: Color Theory and The Photoshop Color Picker
You know dave, you could have just let r_ have this one. His answer was short and to the point. I mean, I even understood it, and that's not very common when r_ starts using words and stuff. But you just had to throw your two pence in. Sheesh. directing back to other forums fricka brackin good fer nuthin...
