Do you have any other audio editing apps on your system? If not, then Audition should be the default audio editor.

    Alvero,

Go to Start > Control Panel > Folder Options > File Types

Find the type of file you will be editing (generally AVI) and change "Opens with" to Audition.

Now whenever you select "edit Original" in Premiere Pro, the file will open in Audition.

However, this is a "global change" and if you try to play a video clip outside of Premiere Pro by double clicking it, the video will still open in Audition. You can always play your video files by right clicking them and select "open with" and then choose Windows Media Player or whatever player you want. Playing in this manner will not affect the settings you made in folder options.

    Best Wishes.

Had the same issue. Thanks to the forum, I found a way round it i.e.:

    1) unlink audio and video
    2) select the audio clip
    3) go to "Clip>audio options>render and replace
    4) right click the new audio clip - Audition should open it automatically

    Regards

When I do that, Audition does open but I don't see the Premiere audio file anywhere. Am I missing a step?

    Cheers

My question didn't seem to elicit an answer from anyone so perhaps I should ask you if you tried Daniel's or Erbernard's suggestions, and if so, did your Premiere file open in Audition using either (or both) methods?

    Thanks for a reply.

Perhaps this post should be on the Audition Forum. You might get better hits.

    Alvaro, zzbarryst:

If you change how the file type opens through the control panel procedure I mentioned previously, then you should experience the following:

From within the Premiere Pro timeline, when you right click on the AUDIO track and then select "edit original", Audition will open automatically and the file will be imported to there. You may see a window which shows the progress of the audio being extracted.

You will not see a "premiere file" there, but rather two files; one being the audio and one being the video.

The audio should then appear in the edit window.

Although I am not a "seasoned professional" I required some guidance in this at the start, but now it works as described.

If you have any more issues, I shall attempt to help the best I can.

    Best Wishes.
