I need to shoot interior scenes close to a window through which sunlight should stream. The object is to fool my audience into thinking that this was shot at night by moonlight. The Color Corrector has so many variables available that it is difficult for a beginner like myself to know where to start. Any ideas out there ?

Peter, do you have AE? Color Finesse has more flexibility and options than the basic corrector in Pro.
Are you able to get a night shot of the same (or similar) location? Colour correcting is a lot easier if you have a reference image to work from. Try to take a digital snap of the location taken at night (a long exposure, tripod mounted, for preference) and then use Photoshop to adjust so that it has the 'look' you want for your video. If you have AE (and Color Finesse) then bring this still into the AE project and Finesse will allow you to access it as a reference image, and allow you to view a 'split'. This should make the adjustment process much more 'intuitive'.

No I don't have After Effects. Color Finesse which I have only just read about indicates that it will specifically tackle the function under discussion. It appears to be a plug-in, but so far no indication that it will work with PPro on it's own. I will do more research and experimentation. I've looked at studio.adobe.com as suggested by Anarev, but it is of no help I'm afraid.
Peter, Color Finesse is only for AE, unfortunately, but it's not the end of the world - most if not all of the tools in Color Finesse are available in Pro. Finesse puts them all together and gives you some funky interfaces for doing the work and that makes it a hell of a lot easier, but you can do it in Pro.
Neil, I'm assuming that Peter already has his footage and needs to correct it, rather than is still at the planning stage. However, even if this is not the case, Peter needs light streaming in through the window so blocking it off isn't a solution.
Peter, the adjustments you need are mostly under the 'Image Control' set of Video Effects in Pro and I'd probably start with adjusting the Hue under Color Balance (HLS). Bear in mind that colour correction is tricky to get right and you'll probably need a number of stacked filters to get it looking good.
Failing that, I'm sure there are some plug-ins for Pro that are similar to Color Finesse - have a Google around.

You don't need any advanced color corrector. Try "American night" which is a very old film trick.
Just shoot versus the Sun, don't show the sky in your frame and underxpose by 2-3 f-stops. You may also balance the camera that it produces a little of bluish image.
