importing previous projects into new projects
In Premiere 6.5 I would create a new project, then import a number of "mini" projects and put them on the timeline to get a compilation of mini-movies I made. When I try and do this in Pro 1.5, it does not work as well, because I just get the bins the material was located in, I don't get the "sequence" as I did in 6.5.
So I tried to export each project as an AVI, (Matrox RTx, since I have the RTX100 card) then import the AVIs back into my project. They come up as "media off-line" despite their being right where I said they were. If I go to back to the mini-project, I can open and play without any issue. Running the AVI in WMP 10 gives me the same "media off-line" which I kinda expect since I'm not using the Windows codec.
I basically want to export my Matrox-created mini-projects/avis to VHS tape. (One big export is better than a bunch of small ones, hence trying to put them all in one project). I need RTX set in my General settings or I get NO output to my VHS recorder/television. The projects have been recreated in Premiere PRO (as "PRprj") and exported using the Matrox codec.
How do I do this?

Re: importing previous projects into new projects
Hmm...Seems like a Matrox issue, but not too sure. As a test, create a small project with a 2-3 minute clip using the PPRO presets ONLY. Try to import that into another project with the same preset. Does that work?

bob, have you opened the bins in PPro's Project Window? The Sequence/s are inside the bins.

as Roger says...
I confirm that the sequences are in the bins you imported and it is not a Matrox issue.

Re: importing previous projects into new projects
So a sequence is automatically created when I import a project? This would make sense. I never saw it because I'm still thinking in 6.5 mode where the project came in JUST as a sequence, not a bin containing it.
I dicked around for couple hours yesterday trying to make anything work but never thought about the sequence thing.
Q.2 How come then, when I import the AVI I created with the Matrox settings, the AVI shows up as "offline" (this is the red page with "offline" written in multi-languages)? How can it be offline when I just pointed to it to import it? If I unlink the AVI, I get the PPro icon for "offline", if I relink, I get this red "offline" page. I also get this red offline page in WMP 10.

Re: importing previous projects into new projects
Bob, the real interesting cuestion is how WMP 10 can show the same offline page? I have never heard of that WMP shows files on- or offline.
Does this happen if to all Matrox avi's you import?
