Editing DVDs in Premiere

  1. Default Editing DVDs in Premiere

Come on chaps - someone must have an answer to this one.

My nephew recently got married and his wedding film is on DVD. I want to do
some editing on it and so far the only way for me to get it into Premiere
was to copy the DVD via firewire onto my camcorder and then capture it using
my Matrox RT100. A very long winded process indeed.

Is there anyway for me to convert the VOB files into DV-AVI to use for
editing? Tried DVD2AVI with no joy as the resulting .d2v file is not
    recognised by Prem 6.5.
I also tried TMPgenc DVD author which appears to merge all the VOBs into
what I think is a mpeg2 file - this takes all of 10mins - now is there
anyway for me to convert this to AV-AVI?

don't let me down guys and thanks in advance for your help.

    Much appreciated

    Bal
