Firewire seems to rather fragile. I suffered the same problem. Fortunately I have a camera that supports USB video transfer and I use Premiere Elements 4.0 which also supports it. If the Firewire port on your computer died you can install an add-in card to get it back and be back in business. If the Firewire port on your camera died then you'll need to either get a new camera, get the old one fixed or upgrade to software that supports USB transfer, assuming your current camera supports it. -- Why settle for the lesser evil?
