Just moved to Vista (new PC) and find that when trying to use Adobe Premiere Elements 4 my Sony dcr-pc110e digital handycam is not recognised! This is strange as if I connect my camera (via firewire)and turn it on it automatically starts Premiere...also sometimes it will start the camera running (you leave it in pause mode) but not actually capture any footage. I must have a setting wrong somewhere but I can't see what...the firewire card and camera are recpgnised by windows and do not report any problems...in Premiere itself it says no device detected and device offline..!looked on the adobe site and have been through their solutions but as I said all seems ok in this area...Works perfectly on my wife's XP machine. Tried turning off firewalls etc...no joy...Any assistance gratefully received. Al

When you plug your camcorder into your computer with no programs running, which programs (besides Premiere Elements) does Windows offer to launch for you? If one of them has a name like Nero, that could explain the problem.

Is Vista service pack one installed? Did you follow these steps? Start PE 4. Plug in Camcorder with firewire to PC. Turn Camcorder swtich to VCR . Go to get media - DV. If the Camcorder is still not seen, push play on the Camcorder while switched to VCR mode.

I think you've got us stumped, AW. Looks like you'll need to contact Adobe Tech Support. <http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.3bbe7d56>
