When you plug your camcorder into your computer with no programs running, which programs (besides Premiere Elements) does Windows offer to launch for you? If one of them has a name like Nero, that could explain the problem.

Is Vista service pack one installed?

Did you follow these steps?
Start PE 4. Plug in Camcorder with firewire to PC. Turn Camcorder swtich to VCR . Go to get media - DV.

If the Camcorder is still not seen, push play on the Camcorder while switched to VCR mode.

I think you've got us stumped, AW.

Looks like you'll need to contact Adobe Tech Support.
