PE4 Error Src\Timecode.cpp-995

  1. Default PE4 Error Src\Timecode.cpp-995

When I open PE4 and click capture video, I get an error message that says Src\timecode.cpp-995. I click OK and another message pops up that says it must be shut down. I've tries reinstalling it, and I still get the same error message. I called Tech Support, but after an hour of being bumped from person to person, I finally gave up (poor CS skills from Adobe). Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    KevT

What type of camcorder are you capturing from? Are you capturing over FireWire?

Have you updated your firmware -- particularly the firmware and drivers for your graphics card, RealTek drivers and Quicktime, per the FAQs at the top of this forum?

What operating system are you using?

I'm using a Panasonic SD 2.3 MP connected to the computer with a USB cable. My OS is Windows Vista Home Premium on a new Dell XPS 420 with 3326 MB of memory. Everything has been updated.

I could find no listing for a Panasonic SD camcorder. Is this a still camera with video? If so, you should convert the video before you bring it into Premiere Elements, per the FAQs at the top of this forum.

Otherwise, if this is a miniDV camcorder, you should be connecting by FireWire rather than USB so that you can capture directly into the program instead of capturing through other software.

You'll also find a tremendous boost in your system's performance and much greater stability if you optimize Vista, per our FAQs.

It a mini DV camcorder, so I guess I better get a 1394 cable. I'll try that and see if it works.
