Right. Sorry about that. Certainly there is much more flexibility working in large format vs. offset printing because of view distance. I have seen vehicle graphics with a halftone dot frequency of 25lpi, which is probably consistent with billboard printing as well. All said, a 50ppi image at 100% size would be appropriate. So, @ 1/4 size, the image resolution should be 200ppi. For a 14' x 48' billboard, the scaled file size would be 3.5' x 12' or 42" x 144" @ 57.7mb/CMYK.

Most important: always speak to the printer to find out what his specs are before committing to a particular pixel density or size -- or even software.
