Well, assuming that you mean the restaurant/hamburger company, it started in business a few years before there were computers or digitized fonts, in 1921, when the origianl logo was designed. So it certainly didn't use "a font" to do its signage, but was probably created manually. Generically, it's a very plain Blackletter font, with very few embellishments. Looking at images of the White Castle logo and advertisements, it appears in a number of slightly different typestyles, with varying amounts of embellishments (additional lines, diamonds, and ornamental additions). To see the examples, Google/Images for: "White Castle" Logo I couldn't find a single blackletter font that comes close to all of the letters, but there might be one out there. Try googling for Blackletter fonts to see if there's one that's close enough for whatever it is you want to use it for. - Herb

herb- thanks for the info. i've been staring at the logo for days now. even did searches for brandname fonts and all and keep coming up short. i was hoping to find the font similarly done like the coka cola one i found. although it was not named coka cola. i've been to one site and noticed the similarity between the blackletter fonts and the wc one. but did not find a match on that site. i'll just keep looking but, at least i have a more solid platform to start from.

The Coca cola font was not used to create the coca cola logo. It was the other way around. Someone took the logo, and created a font from it, copying the five letters and guessing at what the others would look like to match.

PRF, Traditionally, logos were created from scratch by hand or by heavily tweaking existing legitimate fonts. It is an art that is largely lost by today's designers. Most likely there is no existing font for "White Castle". That said, sometimes font "designers" have attempted to interpolate the few letters of well-known traditional logos into workable complements of glyphs, but mostly very poorly. Neil

Maybe it's based on the White Castle logotype: http://moorstation.org/typoasis/desi...ueller/a_f.htm It's a free download. Bill |
