    Two choices:
    1) Run this compile and link session using COMMAND.COM
(If you still use the CL.bat, you could type COMMAND CL
    cFilename)
    2) switch to another language, such as xHarbour.

If this error is coming from your app then it's probably trying to write it's (VM) temp files to the root drive (ie C:\)
which is a no no in NT based systems.

Check out the Blinker/Clipper docs with regard to making an alternate path available for those files.

If this is not your problem then give more details about your environment.
    Which versions of Clipper/Blinker used??
Show us your make and link scripts.

I used clipper program under XP.
    1. XP no used autoexec.bat and config.sys file. Use CONFIG.NT file in
    WINDOWS\SYSTEM32 directory! (FILES=.. CLIPPER=... etc.)
    2. Programs will run in window, but you write windows property ...
    3. Try change _default.pif file property! (This file locate in WINDOWS
directory... This file set property of the old (DOS) program)

XP should run Clipper apps fine. Vista cannot run 16-bit applications at
all. For a Clipper app to run in Vista, the user would have to launch a
virtual XP instance and run it there.

    That's not the truth.
Vista 32 bit can run clipper apps.
However, you can not display full screen with standard vista video
driver and (maybe in my case only) vista leavs for the dos programm
smaller amount of conventional memory than XP.

Whoops, you are correct ,sir. I don't use the 32-bit version and did not
    catch that.

Clipper apps run on Vista 32 bit, but does not run on Vista 64 bit.

    re: Kiran's original query :

Kiran, try on your clients machine from CMD prompt any other
application is working or not. (e.g. EDIT). We have received this
error from a lot of clients, and often found that their WinXP's CMD is
corrupted itself and the same error comes on running other DOS
    Programs too.

I need to check our FAQ, there was another reason I recall which
pointed to some program's being called in AUTOEXEC.NT (in %windows%
    \system32\ folder), causing this error.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi,

as mentioned check Autoexec.nt and config.nt for not existing/corrupt
    drivers , e.g. himem.sys.

    Best regards
