Good :-) (Just watch the medication...)

I never actually requested that anybody test the situation. Nevertheless, I
appreciate your offer of help, Sam.

Fortunately, this problem has long since been resolved. (It was posted 4
weeks ago...)

It came down to an installation standard that access by secondary keys to
ISAM files would be by START... READ NEXT, rather than READ...KEY IS... They
told me that this was necessary with RM COBOL. It isn't at all, but their
approach makes sense.

Richard pointed out that if duplicates were involved this would work better.

As I am writing generalised software to carry out these ISAM actions against
an RDB, I was interested to see what possible actions might be encountered.

I pretty much have this solved now and the rest is stamp collecting.

Thanks very much for the offer of help, and enjoy your new XP box.
(remember to apply SP3... it is the best Update they have ever provided, in
my opinion.)

Pete.

Really,

What does SP3 do for you that makes it the best? I was under the
impression or just assuming that it was just an accumulation of the
"security fixes" or "enhancements", however you term them, that have
occurred since the initial release of XP.

Just curious, because maybe there is something new in there that
I'm not aware of.

Also, and very importatntly as far as I'm concerned, it installed easily and
without incident, and the system did NOT fall apart or exhibit new
behaviours after being rebooted...
