in 1970 you wouldn't let me in your country because i had nuclear weapons with me. now
you have a long list of things that should keep me away. this makes it more interesting, and
now i also wonder what you are hiding.

i've been retired from programming since the early '90s so i'm really out of touch with where
the jobs are here in the states. in my time/place it was not unusual for me to move into the
city/town of my choice and within six weeks be gainfully employed with a shop that meet
my criteria. i've been informed by friends still in the business that i would no longer be able
to do that.

i have a friend (mvs type) that after many years in the private sector is now back with the
state of missouri. it took him years to find this job, but he is more particular than i about who
he works for. in the mvs world there seems to be jobs to be had, in consulting or full time.

a cousin is now in management in western colorado. until their recent consolodation his
biggest problem was in finding qualified help. he and i share a common belief that young
hackers have an abundance of talent but don't make good applications programmers.

my cousin and my friend both think that those that bought into the offshore talent pool are
now licking their wounds and slowly rebuilding with local talent. cobol will have a place
though we can all agree that cobol can be improved. i just hope that it's not the hackers
that dictate these improvements.

i would like to offer 'customized' programming training for business and governments but
have yet not found the door that my foot is supposed to get into.

have a good day.

sss

Only if you speak with a Hindi accent and are willing to work for $35/hr.

Missouri has no sea coast. Are you in 'the other Missouris', Alabama or Mississippi?

They must not work for IBM, Intel, Accenture, Amdocs, Tech Mahindra nor AT&T, all of whom
are moving IT work to India at an increasing rate.

Six years after J4 published the 2002 Standard, no compiler company has implemented it.

You need to go through the Wayback Machine to 1980. Who knows, maybe you'll wake to find
the last 28 years was a bad dream.
