| Hi there, Currently, we have a client that is using Commerce Server 2002 on their site and we have got plans to upgrade their Commerce Server 2002 to Commerce Server 2007. Since Commerce Server 2007 has deprecated Business Desk in Commerce Server 2002, what could be an alternate functionality that we could use to let our clients manage their catalogs, marketing campaigns, orders, users, profiles & security given that some of the functionality Business Desk has is now windows-based, not web based? Also, we have plans of offering commerce server 2007 to our other clients as well as an eCommerce platform that will be hosted on our end, how can they manage their catalogs as well? Thank you so much! Cheers, Ann |

| Ann, I had a similar question (the next topic in this group) and so far I'vent received any response. From what I understand, the Business User Applications (Catalog Manager, Catalog and Inventory Schema Manager, Marketing Manager and Customer & Orders Manager) can be used by our business clients to manage their catalogs/discounts/orders/ profiles (whatever BizDesk could do). My issue was how to install these Business User Apps in the clients machine without having to install CS2007. Thanks, Sabari. | Hi Ann, This has been one of the most dramatic changes in Commerce Server 2007. And, I've got to tell you, I actually love the new tools. While they are windows based, they utilize web services to communicate with Commerce Server, so with the downside of clients having to download and install the software, they would still be able to connect and update their information. I did hear rumors a while back on Ryan Donovan's blog that they were looking to revamp the tools using silverlight thus allowing the tools to be run across multiple platforms. Seeing as how the application is web services based, this seems like a pretty logical move for the tools. Though Ryan is no longer with Microsoft, his blog is still available. Here is the particular article he referenced the upcoming modifications to the tools. http://blogs.msdn.com/rdonovan/archi...ouncement.aspx Thanks, Jerry -- -- Jerry D.
