Was. I discovered last week that I can safely remove it from my home-pc.
Same with D7. On the other hand, I have to keep D5/D7 at the office
even though I don't use them any longer.

Sasfely remove? Why do you need them at the office if you dont use them?

    With no regrets :-)

At the office I never remove stuff. You never know. Hell, I was doing
Turbo Vision in 2000 or 2001.

D7 fixed all the gotchas of using common controls, and was the last "Delphi"
    IDE. It's the most popular.

    D6 was a mess.

D5 was stable, but doesn't support XP/Vista/Seven common controls. Very
    popular still.

    D4 was a mess.

D3 has plenty of hangers on.

I still have a number of D3 applications I am supporting out in the field.
They make heavy use of a number of 3rd party components. The expense of
upgrading all those components to a more recent Delphi does not make
economic sense and would not add any functionality needed by those programs.

I have been more cautious about using 3rd party components since D3 to make
Delphi upgrades easier and cheaper. Of course if I need some wiz-bang,
expensive component to get the job done I have to go for it.
