| I remember it was mentioned somewhere, not sure where though, but wondering whether Delphi Product Management (Nick and the team) thought about Jedi project/components and eventual inclusion (or at least a part of) into future Delphi/CB releases? Is there any support CodeGear gives to Jedi ? B. |

Part of the JCL is used in the IDE. See the about box, it's mentionned here. As to including it by default in the IDE, I don't think this was ever discussed. For instance, should the JVCL be included, many users don't have the need for that many components. > Is there any support CodeGear gives to Jedi ? http://homepages.codegear.com/jedi/jvcl and the sibling sites are the most obvious support we get from CodeGear. | Thanks Olivier, Even if JVCL contains so many components, including it eventually as an option of the main Delphi install would provide more publicity to a whole Jedi project I suppose as well as a fact to be 'officialy' supported by CG which is quite important to who buys a product ... (isn't that case with Indy, although Indy is much more specialized then complete JVCL) Cheers, B. OBones ha scritto: > > Part of the JCL is used in the IDE. See the about box, it's mentionned > here. I wouldn't particularly want to see the whole JVCL included, but perhaps some of the base functionality could be, so we don't have to have loads of JVCL components that are only very slight modifications to the standard ones. --Rob. |

I don't want my IDE offering the Jedi components after I install. The Jedi stuff is a big ball of interdependencies that I try to avoid. I wish they had kept separate the individual donated projects. In hindsight, I agree that individual projects should have been kept separate and maintained by original authors. Maybe the only mandate of JEDI should have been to keep a list of JEDI-approved projects (maybe hosting them), publish coding style guidelines and avoid conflicts. |

These are a great resource and I pay tribute to the work of all who contribute. Some users might appreciate inclusion of JEDI headers/libraries/components on the Delphi install DVD, or even offered as options on the installer. As long as its not a default install.
