You are the first BBEdit post I've seen in this group. Lots more
Vim users here, with a sprinkling of other editor users.
For BBEdit, you are more likely to find something like
comp.sys.mac.system, comp.sys.mac.apps, or even
comp.sys.mac.programmer.tools as more likely places to get
feedback on how wide spread BBEdit usage is.
NOTE: I've been a Mac owner since '88, and I've been following
this news group since I discovered Vim back in '98. The Mac news
groups would be a better place for this question, in my opinion.

Hey,
I liked BBEdit much while I was using Mac OS [78] solely. But now
that I have been using Vim for some time I perfer Vim (with my own
configurations of course) anywhere & everywhere.

Interesting, is it mostly the standardization and interface over all
the systems that you use which appeals to you over BBEdit, or is it the
interface itself, whether or not you were on a Mac?
How do you compare certain features such as clipping, worksheets, and
the other features of BBEdit with the Vim counterparts?
I'd be interested to see how many Vim users have experience with BBEdit
and how they compare the two.

Hmmm ... I seem to have missed the difference between the two parts
of your question. Did you mean to ask that if I am using vim for it
has same interface wherever it is available, or if I am using vim
for vi-interface? I would say, for me, for both the reasons I prefer
Vim.
First & foremost my reason to use Vim is vi-interface; customizations,
namely key bindings and setting options, comes next. Since vim
configuration files can be easily moved from system to system (so far
I have tried: FreeBSD, GNU/Linux, MS Windows (gVim), Cygwin on MS
Windows), I just as well stick with the same editor.
The only problem I have with Vim is highly laborious syntax of regular
expressions (namely, escaping of [()+?|]; in 'magic' mode, not 'very
magic').

It has been a very looong while since I had last used BBEdit; I
really cannot do it justice in comparison.
Having said that, if BBEdit grows nvi/vim features, I (sh|w)ould not
have much trouble using BBEdit.
We don't want to see a file littered with ':wq', ':w', '^[^[', 'dd',
'D', etc. Now, do we?
