| A long time ago I went into Tools/Options/Sending Mail+ in v.6.2.3.4 and checked "Allow editing of from and attach headers." It worked for a little while, but hasn't worked in months. Any idea why? I'd love to get that option back. JJ |

Copying straight out of the manual: For advanced users only: if you need to use an Esoteric Settings plug-in, copy esoteric.epi from the Extra stuff subdirectory into your main Eudora directory. This will allow an interface to several features in your options settings. You will notice additional icons appearing at the end of the category list in Options. My own addition: Never use the added "Ports" section to change default ports; it is global (not personality-specific) and also doesn't change "587" (submission port) or "995/993/465" ("Alternate" ports), when those options already override default ports, so it's much better to use the proper things which were subsequently added to the normal interface, which completely supersede the "Ports" section. > and checked "Allow editing of from and attach headers." > It worked for a little while, but hasn't worked in months. > Any idea why? I'd love to get that option back. Still works in my 7.1.0.9 Is it still checked? Try un-checking, OK, open options again, re-check. Compare against: X-Eudora-Option:EditAllHeaders (and make sure there's just one "EditAllHeaders=" line in Eudora.ini, in the "[Settings]" section, with value 0 for no, 1 for yes). -- |

| [re "Esoteric" option: "Allow editing of from and attach headers"] By the way, are you expecting it to work on anything other than outgoing messages which have not yet been sent? -- |

Yeah, sure am. Sometimes I get ridiculously long headers, especially since the advent of certain spam-detection programs. It happens without the Blah Blah button/Display Full Headers on. I really don't need to see what Spam Cop or Spam Assassin think of my incoming e-mail. Recently it's become more of an issue since Domain Direct "upgraded" their servers. Now I'm getting a lot of legit mail tagged as "Subject: *****SPAM***** ". When I try to respond, even after culling the spam tag out of the Subject line (on the incoming subject line, but NOT as the "Subject" in the actual header itself because I can't seem to do that) , sometimes the outgoing SMTP server rejects the mail as being spam. "The SMTP server said: 550 5.7.1 m7BG8Zgg032014 This message does not comply with required standards." I don't know that much about the internal coding of e-mail, but I figure if I can at least remove any of that tagging from the actual header I have a better chance of getting the mail to go. I've already complained to Domain Direct, and all I got was this: "We have escalated your receiving 5.7.1. mail error issue to our Tier 3 Support Team for further investigation. We will contact you once the issue is resolved, and you will receive notification within 48 hours of this issued email." That was 65 hours ago. ![]() JJ |

Unfortunately, that option means only what was said -- it allows directly editing the "From:" and "Attach:" headers in an outgoing message, before it is sent, and that's all it means. However, this has nothing to do with solving your actual problem (see other reply), so it doesn't matter. -- |
